Haunting Last Words

BUKIT MERTAJAM: “Mummy, I’m in so much pain!” These haunting words were the last spoken by Lee Zi Rou, 21, before she succumbed to her injuries beneath a toppled container.

A Mother’s Fears Confirmed

The call came at 9:24 a.m. Lim, her mother, instantly felt a sense of dread. In an emotional interview with China Press, she recalled the shock and fear she felt when Lee did not respond to her questions.

The Frantic Search

She immediately asked her other daughter to drive her along Lee’s route, frantically dialing Lee’s phone until a man answered, revealing her daughter’s location. By the time Lim arrived, she could only helplessly watch as her daughter lay trapped.

A Mother’s Heartbreak

“I thought there was hope because she had the strength to call me,” she sobbed.

Funeral and Legal Proceedings

Lee’s funeral will be held on Sunday at the Berapit Crematorium. The 51-year-old trailer driver is being investigated for reckless driving, a charge that could lead to a decade-long prison sentence, fines up to RM50,000, and license revocation.

Accident Scene

The accident occurred at the Jalan Bukit Tengah junction, where the trailer lost control, crushing Lee’s vehicle. Another driver, Tan Chou Theng, 25, is recovering in the hospital after sustaining injuries.
