BANGKOK: Malaysians have been urged to delay travel to Southern Thailand due to prolonged heavy rainfall that has caused widespread flooding, according to a notice issued by the Malaysian Consulate in Songkhla.

Malaysian Consul General Ahmad Fahmi Ahmad Sarkawi highlighted the risks in a statement on Thursday (Nov 29). “The unrelenting heavy rain has triggered floods, forcing thousands to evacuate their homes in multiple provinces,” he said.
Guidance for Malaysians in Flood-Hit Areas

Impact on Southern Thailand
The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) in Thailand reported that floods have severely impacted seven southern provinces, including Narathiwat, Songkhla, and Satun. Over 136,000 households across 1,884 villages are affected.
Ongoing Relief Efforts and Support
The DDPM, alongside local volunteers and rescue teams, has deployed critical resources such as water pumps, boats, and helicopters to provide relief. Damage assessments are underway to ensure timely financial aid distribution.
