Introducing the New LRT3 Line
PETALING JAYA: Opening next September, the LRT3 line will significantly enhance public transit for the western Klang Valley, with a capacity of 200,000 daily passengers.
Route and Capacity Details
The Shah Alam Line, spanning 37km from Kampung Johan Setia in Klang to Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya, will initially handle 6,210 passengers per hour. By 2028, the return of five stations will increase this to 7,341 pphpd.
Infrastructure Investment for Commuter Benefits
In support of these stations, the government is funding seven train sets, 150 electric buses, and two depots, boosting transport efficiency.
Budget Adjustments and Public Transit Goals
Prasarana Malaysia Bhd’s CEO Mohd Azharuddin highlighted that actual costs are around RM4.2 billion, dispelling initial estimates of RM5.3 billion.
Project Milestones and Future Goals
Almost complete, the LRT3 line will enter regulatory testing by April, with full station access by early 2028.
