Kuantan Peatland Fire: Govt Weighs Cloud Seeding as Blaze Continues
KUANTAN : As the Kuantan peatland fire rages into its 13th day, authorities are considering cloud seeding as a possible intervention to curb the disaster.
Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad stressed that cloud seeding is not a straightforward solution and depends on various factors, including weather conditions and expert recommendations.
Fire Spreading Despite Active Suppression Efforts
The fire, which started on February 22, has already consumed 137 hectares of coconut plantations and is moving toward forested areas. Firefighters are using water bombing and ground suppression techniques, but the fire persists due to hot and dry weather.
