A Bangladeshi man has been taken into custody in Johor after a video of him allegedly abusing a dog surfaced online. The incident occurred at a shophouse in Senai on February 24 and was widely circulated on Instagram by the handle Updateinfo11. The footage, depicting a man striking a dog with a stick, caused an uproar on social media, leading to an official police investigation.

Suspect Arrested and Charged

Following a complaint from a 33-year-old local resident, police arrested the 45-year-old suspect, who is a factory worker. Authorities have charged him under Section 428 of the Penal Code and Section 29(1)(a) of the Animal Welfare Act 2015. The suspect is set to appear before the Kulai Magistrate’s Court on February 28. The charges carry serious legal consequences, including possible jail time and fines.
