Malaysian Sprinter Akim Ready for Men’s 100m Heats at Paris Olympics
Malaysian sprint star Akim is ready to make his Olympic debut in the men’s 100 meters heats at the Paris Olympics. The 20-year-old will compete at the iconic Stade de France, marking the most crucial race of his career. Akim, who holds the national record in the men’s 100 meters with a time of 10.09 seconds, also won the bronze medal in the 100 meters at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games. This April, he set his season-best time of 10.24 seconds in the United States. Arriving in Paris last Monday on a wildcard, Akim has adapted well to the local weather conditions. He emphasized the importance of maintaining a low profile and focusing on his usual training regimen, aiming for a strong performance without attempting anything beyond his limits. Akim is the first Malaysian sprinter to compete in the Olympic 100 meters in 24 years, following Hua Sheng’s appearance in the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
